Top 5 Picks for Summafieldayze 2013

sfd
THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS (DJ Set)
Regardless of the fact that the Chemical Brothers are playing a ‘DJ Set’, as one of the most successful electronic acts the world has ever seen, there’s certainly going to be the same amount of awe and rapture that surrounds their unbelievable live shows. The boys are promising to play a DJ set that takes you on a musical journey through their own personal experiences and music explorations. If it’s anything like the sets they’ve played in Australia in the past, missing The Chemical Brothers at Summafieldayze 2013 will be the worst decision you ever made.

DISCLOSURE (Live)
One of the biggest acts coming out of the UK at the moment is UK house DJ/producer duo Disclosure. Their distinctively British sound has made them a musical sensation in Australia, with the brothers’ (Guy and Howard Lawrence) recently released track Latch being described as one of the ’sounds of summer’. Can’t wait to hear these guys at Summafieldayze, they’ve definitely got our attention!

ADRIAN LUX
Most know him as the talent behind the 2010 infectious house track Teenage Crime, but the Swedish producer’s 2012 self-titled album has stacks of hits up its sleeve. His songs, including Can’t Sleep and Burning, have the perfect mix of progressive house and catchy dance/pop. Audiences keep wanting more from Adrian Lux and we’re pretty damn excited for his set at SFD 2013!

SBTRKT
The 2011 self-titled album gave us infectious hits like Wildfire and Pharaohs – dancing beats to get any dance floor started. No doubt London based musician/producer SBTRKT will be bringing his trade mark tribal mask with him to set the crowd alight when he takes to the stage at Summafieldayze 2013.

HOT CHIP
After the success of their fifth studio album ‘In Our Heads’ Hot Chip will be bringing their striking synths and flawless vocals Down Under to blow us away at Summafieldayze. Their 2009 album ‘One Life Stand’ is renowned as one of the classic dance music albums, featuring the synth heavy and instantly euphoric tacks One Life Stand and Feel Better. No doubt Hot Chip are going to rock out their new and old tracks for an unbelievable show.

I WANT MY SUMMAFIELDAYZE!

Thursday, September 13th, 2012 by admin

I WANT MY SUMMAFIELDAYZEIn 2003, Summafieldayze made a maiden voyage on the shore side venues of Queensland’s Gold Coast. Initially with only 6,000 punters the festival has grown five-fold, lured international acts such as N.E.R.D, Groove Armada, and The Chemical Brothers, all the meanwhile solidifying their position as a member of the holy Grail of summer music festivals. If that’s not enough for you to grab your best neon and dancing shoes, 2013’s line-up will have you selling a grandparent just for a chance to join in the action.

The Chemical Brothers need no introduction. Off the back of an overwhelming two-year music-bender, which has included: releasing their seventh studio album Further, and working on movie soundtracks like Hanna and Black Swan, this duo was already unstoppable… and then, just for kicks they released music exclusively for the 2012 London Olympic Games. now they’re ready to cut up the Gold Coast in the New Year with their not-to-be-missed DJ Set. If this hasn’t already sold you, just check out the other acts joining Summafieldayze in 2013:

Spotify or Notify?

Sunday, May 27th, 2012 by sshakspeare

On Tuesday, May 22, the world’s largest free on-demand music provider launched in Australia and New Zealand. Spotify is quickly taking over the world of free music streaming; Rdio and JB Hi Fi’s “Now” are already operating within the country, but with the introduction of Spotify and it’s 16 million song library competition just got a lot tougher.
After spending six months in the UK with unlimited internet (thanks to student halls) and Spotify, returning to Australia to find that I could not longer access my Spotify account was a great disappointment. I could no longer listen to whatever I wanter, whenever I wanted… My infinite online library of music ceased to exist and I had to resort to my long-overdue-for-an-update iTunes.
There has been mixed emotions about the launch of the Stockholm-based company, with many arguing that artists are not being paid enough for the use of their music and that the world of free music streaming is leading to the demise of the music industry. More than 10 million global users definitely says something about the impending shift in the landscape of the Australian music industry.
Spotify has been created to combat music piracy, “We want to concentrate on drawing users away from music piracy by delivering the most complete music service we can.” Supporting a good cause, right?
Personally, Spotify is one of the best things that has ever happened to me, like many students whose weekly budget doesn’t factor in music purchases. Free music? Check. Unlimited music? Check. Ability to share or turn off Facebook sharing (depending on your taste and self-consciousness)? Check.
Word is that the “Golden Era for music” is coming…
